YOUR APPOINTMENT... WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION?
Your healing begins with soft lighting to bring calmness and sounds of music that will aid in relaxation. You will lie on a massage table, fully clothed, removing your shoes, belt and watch (if applicable). The practitioner places their hands lightly on or over specific areas of the head, limbs, and torso, for between 2 and 5 minutes. If there is a particular injury, such as a burn, the hands may be held just above the wound.
The practitioner will discuss with you your "Reiki Healing" prior to and after your appointment. "Reiki Healing" is information channeled prior to and during your appointment and will also include a treatment plan.
HOW DOES REIKI HEAL?
Life force energy flows within the physical body, though pathways called chakras, meridians and nadir. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. The healing effects are mediated by channeling the universal energy know as qui, pronounced "chi." In India, this is known as "Prana." This is the same energy involved in tai chi exercise.
Reiki energy permeates the body to aid in relaxation, assist in the body's natural healing processes, and develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Inducing deep relaxation, it has helped people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and improve overall wellbeing.
People who receive Reiki describe it as "intensely relaxing."
REIKI IN HOSPITALS
There are more than 800 hospitals in the US that practice Reiki. More hospitals are opening their doors to the idea that Reiki is a modality that works in conjunction with western medicine. It helps improve patients' health and recovery time. I personally have witnessed this with those I have treated who are recovering from major surgeries. I've also witnessed the overwhelming benefits it has had on those suffering with cancer. More and more cancer centers are incorporating these technique as a service to patients as well.
REIKI + HOSPICE CARE
Reiki can be very beneficial to someone who is at or near end of life. Reiki can not stop death if it is time to pass over, but a person who is dying can receive the healing of Reiki before and even during the transition. Healing can be the complete release of fear, allowing a readiness for death.
CHRISTIANITY + REIKI
Each new idea or change in our world challenges us to adjust to the new knowledge and experience. Sometimes new knowledge has a bearing on our religious values and beliefs. As Christians, we search for ways to follow more fully Jesus' teachings and examples in order to draw closer to God. We feel it is important to be aware of the examples Jesus has set for us. Many Christians have adopted practices to develop the "Gifts of the Spirit." In Corinthians 12:4-12, Paul speaks of the gifts including speaking wisdom and knowledge and the power to heal.
The scriptures from Matt: 14:14, Mark 3:10, and Luke 4:38-39 talk about the ability to help others and much of his healing was done by laying on hands Here are a few examples:
In Matthew 8:14-15, Jesus uses touches to heal Peter's mother-in-law of a fever. In Mark 1:40-42, Jesus uses his hands to heal a man with leprosy. This is also mentioned in Luke 5:123-13. Mathew 20:29-34 describes how Jesus restores the vision of two blind men by touching their eyes. In Mark 8:22-25, Jesus uses his hands to cure another blind man. In Mark 7:32-35, he uses touch to remedy a man who is deaf and mute. In Luke 7:12-15, Jesus raises a dead man by touching his coffin. Lastly, in Luke 8:49-55 Jesus uses touch to return a dead girl to life.
Scripture clearly indicates that healing is something appropriate for Christians to be involved with. Christians who have a solid foundation in their faith know that God will always protect and guide them. Those Christians who practice Reiki do so with the guidance and protection of God, secure in the belief that we have been guided to follow Jesus' example to be a healer.
